Let’s play a game (workout idea)

Happy Wednesday!    How is your week going?  It has been full days of babies, work and teaching classes over here, so the week is just flying by.

I have also been gathering up Easter basket goodies for the little ones, which has been lots of fun. I love picking out little goodies for them.  There is also just nothing like a small child’s enthusiasm.  Before the birthday party on Sunday, my two-year old spent a good chunk o’ time confirming that there would be birthday cake, and practicing singing happy birthday.  He’s the cutest!

Moving to workouts, I have a fun workout for you using a deck of cards.

For this workout, the following values apply to each card.  For numerical cards, your set will be the value of the card (Ex. 9 of spades=9 squats):

Ace – 1 minute plank

King/Queen/Jack – 1 minute cardio of choice (running, jumping jacks, burpees, etc)

Spades – squats

Hearts – Bicep curls

Clubs – Sit ups

Diamonds – Lunges

Feel free to vary the types of each exercise to meet your needs and preferences.  For example, with lunges, you could do a round of alternating lunges, followed by curtsy lunges.

I love these kinds of workouts when I just don’t know what I want to do, it makes each round a surprise and is a fun break from a more traditional workout.  Let me know if you give it a try.
