Friday Favorites – Happy National Donut Day!

Happy Friday and Happy National Donut Day (thanks google for the image).

donuts

Sadly, I will not be partaking in the donut eating today, but have been ogling all the yummy donut recipes floating around recently.  I am super excited to try these Paleo chocolate sweet potato donuts from Hungry Hobby and these Strawberry chocolate donuts from Skinny Fitalicious.

With the holiday on Monday, I feel like the week has totally flown by.  A highlight was getting to catch up with an old friend at Whole Foods on Tuesday night.  We decided it was the perfect meeting spot because my local Whole Foods has a bar in it where your can order drinks and foods, as well as a smoothie bar and salad/hot bar.  She was able to enjoy what she liked, and I was able to enjoy a Whole 30 compliant snack.  While wandering around and catching up, I also came across this find.

bacon

I wouldn’t say that I was necessarily missing bacon since I started Whole 30, but I saw so many comments about how hard it was to find compliant/sugar-free bacon, that when I saw it I had to try it.  I will admit it was a nice treat with my breakfast Wednesday and I am looking forward to some more this weekend.

My week has also been brightened by my dear friend Kourtney sending me memes throughout the week.  She and I swam together in high school.  I have also trained her a few times, and she takes my class.  I promise I never made her cry though.

funny

Also, this one, a truer tale has never been told:)

One more for good measure, I saw this on Instagram the other day and couldn’t help but laugh.  My baby girl has perfected the wide-eyed “please” when she wants somthing.  I have been struggling to tell her no to extra goodies all week.  It is so hard to deny them something when they are so cute and sweet!  Even when they totally cannot have a treat right before bed.

This weekend I am looking forward to some quality time with the babes and the hubs.  I am also hoping to catch up with some friends for our book club.   I didn’t manage to read the book this time, but seeing everyone is really the highlight anyways.

How about you?  Any big weekend plans?  Do you have a favorite donut you will be indulging in today?

  1. Mmm, I love donuts 🙂 I don’t think I’ll be geting one today, but maybe this weekend! This is the first weekend in a month we’ve been in town, so no plans, but I’m VERY excited to just lay low with my little family and do our normal thing. Happy Friday!

  2. Can’t believe it’s national donut day and I won’t be partaking! I am however going to a wedding which is always fun and have a hike planned! And Whole Foods is seriously awesome! Love their hot bar.

    1. Yeah to Disneyland! That’s so exciting, hope you have a blast. I am about 12 days in so far and it hasn’t been bad, there are definitely some things I am looking forward to eating again though.

  3. That’s a unique find at Whole Foods. I actually didn’t know bacon had sugar in it, but then EVERYTHING seems to have sugar in it, so it’s not too surprising. I *almost* stopped by Krispy Kreme to get a free donut on Friday but decided it wouldn’t be worth it. I usually have such high expectations and am totally let down. No use risking a waste of calories! 🙂

    1. That is definitely something Whole 30 has made me aware of, how many not sweet things actually have sugar in them. Whole Foods is definitely the place to go if you are looking for more unique finds. Hope you are having a nice weekend!
