Happy Friday!

Hey friends, who’s ready for the weekend?  I know this girl is!

This week has been a whirlwind one for me, lots of busy work and life stuff.  I am looking forward to some fun this weekend, and hopefully at least a little relax time.  My little guy’s birthday party is this weekend (how is he already almost three, slow down time).  I am fairly ready, but still have lots of little odds and ends to wrap up and get ready for the party.  I am also looking forward to a night out with the girls this weekend.

Before we kick off the weekend though, I wanted to share a few favorites from the week. Starting with this perfect little horror movie hand-print my dude left on my window.  It gave me a laugh, and reminded me how desperately I need to wash my car. hand print

I have also been munching on some delicious cherries all week.  I was missing Rainier cherries, which seem to only be available like two weeks of the year.  While these are not Rainier cherries, any cherry is still a win in my book.

Speaking of cherries, I am looking forward to giving this cherry smoothie recipe from Sweet and Strong a try ASAP.  It sounds so perfect for these hot summer days and I love that it has some veggies in it as well.

The highlight of my week was definitely my pizza dinner date with the babes.  We went to Little Anthony’s Diner, which is an adorable, old-fashioned diner in Tucson.  I have always loved their pizza and they were so nice and accommodating.  Which I especially appreciated since this outing was just me and two little ones.  The kiddos loved the cars and props out front.

This week has been a transition food wise, as I finished up my Whole30 and enjoyed a couple treats.   Workout wise, I got my strength and cardio in.  But my body is definitely yearning for some yoga, and I didn’t make my usual classes I like to attend. This weekend I am going to take some time to plan out my workouts for next week, to make sure I get in more variety.

I always meal plan each week, and while I am excited to continue to bring back some of my favorite foods, I do want to keep the produce focus I have had while on Whole30.  With the heat, I am thinking lots of salads, smoothies, and maybe some grilling for good measure.  Since I can now start having legumes again, I was pretty excited to see this round up of chickpea recipes.  So many good looking recipes!

  1. I love how retro that diner looks – how fun! We don’t have too many plans this week, but my daughter and I are excited to make ice cream together. It’s been on our bucket list for this summer!

  2. I am definitely indulging in cherries, too! I miss Michigan cherries, but I take whatever I can get in the desert! That diner looks so cute, too! This weekend we plan on beating the heat with pool time and homemade popsicles! Happy Birthday to your little guy!

  3. We have a birthday party for tomorrow as well. Ever since we went on vacation a few weeks ago my eating has been off…. I feel like I just need a swift kick in the butt to get back on track! Making some pre-made smoothies sounds like a great way to do it! Happy birthday to your little one!

  4. I haven’t had cherries in forever, I need to get some! It’s super hot here in VA, so we’re going to the aquarium this weekend 🙂
