Friday faves

Happy Friday friends! How are you today? Any fun weekend plans coming up?  I feel like it took ages for this weekend to get here, perhaps because I took Monday off to make it a four-day weekend.  Knowing you have a long weekend coming up always seems to slow down the work week a little.

Per usual, I wanted to share some of my favorites from this week with you.  My number one favorite has been celebrating my little boy’s birthday!

With his party last weekend and his actual day yesterday, we have been pretty much celebrating all week and it has been magical.  I will always remember the excitement in his eyes as he got ready to blow out his candle. I just can’t believe my little man is three years old already. Slow down time!!!!

My little guy is super into cars.  A couple of months ago, I had a series of flat tires (like three in two weeks).  I had to replace all the tires, which was a huge bummer and expense.  My mom turned lemons into lemonade and made the dude this super awesome shelf for his cars out of one of my flat tires!

This week also marked the return of oatmeal for me, in the form of peanut butter overnight oats with strawberries. I wish I had a photo to share, but I inhaled it after class one day and didn’t think to snap a picture until it was gone.

In other delicious food related news.  When I went to get the dude’s cake, I stumbled across Rainier cherries on sale.  I had assumed they were gone for the year, so I was pretty stoked to see them.  So excited that I had the hubs take this goobery, post gym picture of my cherries and I.

I also got to have lunch with some old coworkers this week.  It was my first time trying Corner Bakery, and it did not disappoint.  The food was delicious, but the company was even better.

Around the interwebs this week, I really enjoyed this post from A Lady Goes West about being kind to yourself and the constant “am I doing enough” struggle.  It was exactly what I needed.

I also really need to try this cherry limeade smoothie like yesterday.  I loved cherry limeades when I was younger and I think this sounds so refreshing on a hot summer day.

What have you enjoyed this week?  Are you a DIY’er or craft person?  I love the idea of it, but seem to just pin projects, rather than actually making them.

Hope you have a great weekend!

  1. That tire shelf is amazing! I really, really wish I were crafty, but I am just not. Even if I think I’ll like doing a project, I just end up annoyed with it / frustrated because it never looks right and always takes 1000 times longer than I thought it would. Happy birthday to your little guy!!

  2. I have recently started eating those cherries. A few months ago, the dark cherries started giving my an itchy mouth and throat which made me really sad, so I’m glad these don’t bother me! That cake looks delicious, by the way! Happy Friday, to you! 🙂

  3. That tire shelf is so cool. I do NOT have artsy talents like that!! This week was great (I was off for the most part now working night shift this weekend-womp Womp!) hoping the weekend is slow for everyone but fast for me 😉
