Hey, how was your weekend? Or if this is a long holiday weekend for you, how was the first half ?
The weekend kicked off with lots of donuts over here. On Friday, a friend brought these beauties into work to share. There is a new donut shop in town called Amy’s Donuts. They are delicious, and come with all sorts of fun toppings. They remind me a bit of Voodoo Donuts in Portland, OR.
I also got to enjoy a birthday lunch for a dear friend, along with her adorable son on Friday (hope you had a great birthday Kourtney). I hadn’t had Thai food in a while, it hit the spot and was nice to break from the day a little and catch up.
Saturday morning started pretty promising. We ended up taking a family trip to Amy’s Donuts, so the kids and the hubs could try it out. The Chief Wiggums donut made me smile. I watched a lot of The Simpsons when I was younger. We ended up getting a half-dozen to sample, my favorite was this Elvis donut. It was peanut butter, a drizzle of chocolate, dried banana slices and bacon. It was so good, and not quite as sweet as some of the other ones (it was peanut butter, not peanut butter frosting), which I liked.
After our donut adventures, I went to teach class. Since a lot of people were traveling for the holiday, and I was not sure how many people would be there, we played a fun variation of this workout. It was a fun class and I was so impressed with some of the cardio moves the ladies in my class came up with.
The rest of Saturday we mainly stayed home, and it was all a bit of a blur. The kiddos were a little cranky (something in the air?) and the hubs was working. We stayed home, played trucks and I tried to keep my babes happy and entertained while staying inside. They definitely prefer outside activities, so they can get a bit restless in the afternoon, when it is too hot to be outside.
Sunday morning started with a bright and early barre class. This class was a doozy, lots of shaking and I have no doubts I will be feeling it tomorrow.
After class, I tagged the hubs out on parenting duties (he had to leave for work). The kids and I headed over to a friend’s house for a swim play date. It was a much-needed fun day, after what was kind of a rough Saturday. After swimming, we went home for naps. The rest of Sunday was spent playing, running errands and watching Trolls. The babes are loving Trolls recently, and I must admit, it is pretty cute.
Since this weekend also marks the beginning of July, I thought I would share a few things I am looking forward to this month. In the short-term, I am very excited to have the next couple of days off work. I am looking forward to hopefully catching up on a few things, getting to some chores I have been putting off. As well as spending some extra time with friends and family, as we celebrate the 4th of July.
Later in the month, I am really looking forward to a Barre challenge I am planning to do. It is free, if you want to join me, find the details here http://barre3.com/b3anywhere.
I am also really looking forward to a trip I have planned later this month to visit one of my oldest friends in Denver. It has been way too long, I am so excited to see her. I am also really looking forward to checking out Denver, I have never been before.
Friends in the U.S. what are you doing for the 4th of July? Anything you are really looking forward to this month?
