Yeah for staycations! – Weekend Recap

Hey friends!  How was your weekend?  This girl had a super relaxing weekend, thanks to us taking a little staycation.  For the hub’s birthday/Father’s Day gift last month, I had bought a staycation package for him at a resort here in town.  This weekend, we actually got to use it!  We stayed at the Starr Pass Marriott, which is a beautiful resort just west of Tucson.

Upon arrival on Saturday, we were greeted by this view.

Shortly after checking in our room, this arrived.  I could not have asked for a better welcome!

We checked in early afternoon, and spent several hours playing at the pool with the kiddos.  We had a lovely time.  The pool is very family friendly, and also has a splash pad, which my little lady loved.

Once the babies were good and worn out from their pool time, my mom kindly picked them up and took them for a sleepover with grandma.  Then, the hubs and I got ready for our date night.

There are several restaurants on this property.  We ended up eating at Salud, which is essentially the lobby bar and restaurant.  They have an awesome patio, overlooking the city.  There was also an excellent band playing.

We started with a chef’s plate and drinks, and ended up spending a few hours there.  We enjoyed the band, drinks and some delicious snacks.

We capped off the night with some coconut ice cream topped with roasted pineapple (I forgot to snag a picture, sorry), and retired early.  After sleeping in, we enjoyed breakfast at the resort.  I had an egg white omelet with spinach, bacon, green onions and olives, along with fruit and oatmeal.  I also shared some french toast with the hubs.  We then headed off to pick up the kiddos from grandma’s house.

The rest of Sunday was spent doing the necessary chores, and hanging out as a family.  Neither the hubs nor I were feeling especially motivated to make dinner, so we treated the kiddos to some Chuck E. Cheese.

Have you ever taken a staycation?  This was my first time.  It really did leave me feeling refreshed and ready to take on a new week  It was an excellent treat.

This week, I am looking forward to starting a Barre challenge, and hopefully enjoying some good thunder storms.  It is monsoon season here, I love the summer rains.

What are you looking forward to this week?  Is anyone else doing the Barre challenge?

Hope you have a great day!

  1. Staycations are awesome!! My vacation week this week is at the beach in Delaware-aka 40 m from my parents home about 3 from where I am. I don’t hate it at all! It’s simple and lacks the stress of travel!

  2. Such a fun idea to do a little staycation! Sometimes all you need for a “getaway” is only twenty minutes from home. And that good looks delicious!

  3. Very important to take time away, even if just short. We head to our fifth wheel at the lake, unplug, unwind and spend quality time together, just the two of us.

  4. I love this idea! I always thought a “staycation” was just vacationing at your house – but how fun to go to a resort in your own town! Skip the stress of travel time, but keep the relaxation of being away from home’s to-do list. Love the idea! Thanks for sharing. 🙂

    1. Thanks! Vacationing at home is definitely the truest sense of the staycation but I can’t seem to ignore my to do list if I am at home. I love how staying at hotel in town feels like going away.

  5. Oh I’m craving charcuterie now! What a fun weekend. I love the idea of a staycation, I feel there are so many places to explore in your own area and you don’t need to worry about travel. We live close to DC/Baltimore, so we often try to do little getaways around the area.
