Weekend Recap

Hey, guys! How was your weekend? Was it a long one for you?  Any fun getaways?  We stayed in town but made the most of the long weekend. The hubs and I kicked it off with an at home date night on Friday.  After we got the kids to bed, the hubs put together this awesome cheese plate for us. That’s warmed Brie, roasted garlic, apple, baguette, and peach preserves.

We poured some drinks, and settled in for an evening of movie watching and chatting.  It was the perfect low-key start to the weekend.

Saturday started early.  I headed out to the first available Orangetheory class of the day.  Then headed home for breakfast with the fam before going to teach my class.  I wasn’t sure how attendance would be on the holiday weekend but had a large and energetic group.  It was a blast.  The rest of Saturday morning was spent running some family errands.  I fell in love with these two and plan to keep an eye on their price and hopefully snag them when they go on sale.

After baby naps, we headed over to see some friends for a play date and dinner. I didn’t think to take any pictures, but we had a great time hanging out and catching up as the kids played.  We can home just in time to tuck the babies into bed.  Then caught up on a little tv before calling it an early night ourselves.

Sunday morning once again started with a bright and early Orangetheory.  I do not normally do Orangetheory multiple days in a row and my legs were definitely feeling the fatigue.  After class, I stopped by a local bakery/deli and picked up some treats to share with the family.

We then headed over to a local nursery.  They had recently expanded and we were in the market for some new rose bushes, so I wanted to check it out.  Also, I really like looking at plants.  It ended up being a real highlight of the weekend.  They have expanded to have a huge indoor and outdoor area.  I loved the hanging terrariums.

There were also tons and tons of butterflies fluttering about, which was cool to see.  The kids were pretty excited to see so many of them!

The rest of Sunday was not especially interesting but was super productive and great family time.  We hung out at home, got lots of cleaning done and I had some craft time with the kids.

Monday we continued to work on things around the house.  We did end up getting a couple of rose bushes on Sunday, so the hubs planted those.  I made some muffins I was hoping to share here on the blog, but they are not quite where I want them yet, hopefully soon.  We had planned to have some friends over to BBQ on Monday, but they had to cancel.  We ended up cooking out with my in-laws.  My mother in law had been on vacation in Ireland over the last few weeks, so it was nice to catch up and hear all about her trip.  I also really want to plan an overseas vacation now. The hubs grilled up chicken sausage and corn, and I made watermelon margaritas to sip on.  I also made deviled eggs, which always seem like the thing to make for summer holidays/BBQs.  It was a nice afternoon of visiting and playing with the kiddos.

Overall, an excellent weekend.  We had some great family time and got to do some actual relaxing, which feels rare these days.  On the workout front, I was pretty active, getting in two Orangetheory classes, and teaching two total body classes.  I had wanted to hit up a yoga class, but it did not end up happening.   I did do about 20 minutes of freestyle yoga at home on Friday and Monday though, so I am counting that as a win.

Now your turn.  Tell me about your weekend.  Was it a long one for you?  Any end of summer trips or BBQs?

Hope you have a great day!

  1. Great job on your workouts! And I love your date night cheese plate idea 🙂
I’m a little under the weather this morning and could use another day off…but it’s almost easier to suffer through the day sick then deal with the hassle of getting a sub and writing sub plans 😦
    Hope you enjoy your day!
