Friday Favorites

Happy, happy Friday friends!  How are you today?  Ready for the weekend?  This is the start of a long weekend for us!  Which I have very much been looking forward to.

Before we get to the weekend though, I want to take a moment to look back on some highlights from the week.  These posts are some of my absolute favorites.  At the end of the long week, I have a tendency to get a bit ho-hum, but looking back all of the good stuff helps me refocus on the positive and reminds me to be grateful for what I have and all the wonderful people in my life (including you all, thank you for being here!).

In food-related accomplishments, I baked bread, you guys!  I make quick breads fairly regularly, but had never made a yeast bread on my own, without the help of my bread maker.  It didn’t rise exactly how I wanted it to, but it tasted good!  Also, my son got a huge kick out of having to push down the dough to knead it after it had risen the first time.

My mother in law picked up a bag of this adorable pumpkin shaped pasta for us earlier this week, which my little guy was super excited about.  I cooked it up and tossed it with frozen spinach, minced garlic, olive oil and Tuscan seasoning.  It was delicious.

I tried out a sample of this First Aid Beauty Coconut Skin Smoothie this week and really liked it.  My skin felt soft, makeup stayed put, and it has a nice, faint coconut scent.

On the home front, I successfully negotiated with my three-year-old that if he put away his toys, I would let him vacuum the rug.  Parenting win!

We also enjoyed some Vietnamese takeout this week (below is my Chicken Wonton soup content and broth, just waiting to be mixed).  I learned that my son is all about the egg noodles, while the little miss prefers rice noodles.  Vietnamese is a favorite of mine, so I am just glad they were fans of this meal.

I also got a much-needed haircut and color refresh last night and am feeling so good with my new hair.  I hadn’t gotten a trim in about 6 months and it was time.  I ended up taking off several inches and am loving how light it feels.

Around the web, I am loving all the fall excitement! I have seen lots of awesome fall recipes and activity ideas and am ready to dive headfirst into all things fall.

I am not the craftiest of moms, but love this toddler handprint art and think the babes and I could manage it.

I am also looking forward to trying these Chunky Monkey Energy Bites.

What was one of the highlights from your week?  Any weekend plans?  We are taking a quick trip and I will probably not be able to post Monday.  I will be back on the blog Tuesday though and can’t wait to catch up with you all.  I will probably pop up on Instagram before then though, so catch me there.

Hope you have an amazing weekend!

  1. Thanks, Emily! I LOVE your haircut- I’ve been debating going short because my daughter is just grabbing my hair right now 😩 You’ll have to post your bread recipe because it looks amazing 😍 Happy Friday!

    1. Ouch! Hopefully that phase passes quickly. Thank you, I am really happy with my new cut. I used a Better Homes and Garden recipe, it did taste pretty good, hopefully I can get it to rise more next time. Hope you have an awesome weekend!

  2. So impressed that you made bread! I sadly have never tried!
Love your haircut and thanks for the shoutout/link to my Chunky Monkey Bites! I hope you enjoy them and have a great weekend.

  3. Your haircut is so pretty! It reminds me that I should probably get mine cut soon since it’s been almost 6 months. I’ve been wanting to make bread and your experience makes me want to even more lol. Have a great one Emily!
