Portland Recap – Round 2

Happy hump day friends!  Thank you for the thoughts and prayers yesterday, it really means a lot to me.  Today I wanted to fill you in on the second half of our Portland trip.  Saturday morning started with some early morning errand running to find some toddler leggings, which I had forgotten to pack.  My sister-in-law had very kindly agreed to take some pictures of the little miss (she is an awesome photographer, check out some of her work over at meganashphoto.com), and we needed the tights for her outfit.

Once the tights had been obtained, we headed over to Elephant’s Deli for breakfast.  You guys, this was the cutest little place.  It is a coffee shop/deli and is a local chain.  They had so many goodies and fun things in the shop area.

After breakfast, we took some pictures, had a successful nap(!), and headed over to Powell’s bookstore. I had been to Powell’s before, but it had been several years and I had forgotten how enormous it is.  This trip we mainly stuck to the kid’s section and main floor.  I let the little miss pick out a couple of books, and picked up some goodies for my little guy back home.

After Powell’s, we headed to The Old Spaghetti Factory, which is actually a chain that I had been to once, years ago. I did not know it had originated in Portland. I also did not expect this fancy schmancy lobby!

It was a pretty delicious meal,  I am a sucker for fresh bread and they brought out some awesome, warm sourdough to start the meal.  We were having a bit of an early birthday celebration for the little one, and they brought her out the cutest little cake for her birthday.  She was so excited!

We left midday on Sunday, so we tried to make the most of the morning.  To start, my brother and I went for a long morning walk along the river.  It was so beautiful, also we saw a bald eagle, which is pretty unusual to see in Portland, I wish I could have snagged a picture of it.

This is my cute little brother with his favorite tree.

After our walk, we grabbed everyone and went to breakfast at Elephants again.  I had the herb baked eggs, which were delicious, but the star of the show was the walnut toast with ricotta and honey,  it was so good!

After breakfast, we did some exploring and shopping before it was time to head home.  It was so nice to see my family there and I will miss them so much.

Have you ever been to Portland? What’s one of your favorite places to visit?

Hope you have a fantastic day!

  1. I would book a trip to Portland solely for that bookstore! I absolutely adore bookstores and used to want to open one when I got older. The picture of the river and the trees/house at the end are beautiful!

  2. The trees in their fall colors are so beautiful!
Herbed baked eggs sounds very interesting. I’ve never had a baked egg.

  3. A great trip! I have been to Portland for a long weekend before and am desperate to go back! I hyperventilated in Powell’s, LOL. I need more time there!!!!

  4. Yay! Round Two!!! 🙂 I must say, seeing pictures of that breakfast makes me want to eat my computer screen! I will take a loaf of that walnut bread, please! <3

  5. I’ve always wanted to visit Oregon but haven’t been able to convince anyone to come with me. My high school friend went to college there and would post pictures – the nature scenes are so gorgeous!
