Friday Favorites

Happy Friday friends!  How has your week been?  Aside from being a little rough getting back into the swing of things after the long weekend, it has been a pretty good one over here.  I have been looking forward to this weekend because the hubs and I will be celebrating six years of marriage this weekend!  I am excited to celebrate with my handsome guy.

Before we get to weekend fun though, I wanted to share some favorites from the week.  Let’s start with food, shall we?

The hubs picked up this salsa from Trader Joes and I have been basically planning my meals around how well they go with salsa ever since.  It is my new favorite store-bought salsa.

Who doesn’t love a good deal on health goodies?  I noticed that a nutrition/supplement store near me was having a closing sale, so I decided to stop in and check it out. Turns out that the whole store was 40-60% off, so I picked up a few goodies.

I was also reunited with my favorite Mango La Croix this week.  I had not seen it in stores for a while and assumed it was seasonal.  Turns out, Safeway has it all the time.  Thanks Dayna for letting me know!

I have also had the pleasure of catching up with some good friends that I had not seen in a while. I had a lunch date yesterday (Cobb salad and chicken tortilla soup, delicious but rushed because it took forever for our food to come) with a friend I had not seen in a while.  We had a lovely time catching up and talking babies while waiting for our food.

Plus we had a friend stop by to visit one evening. It was so nice to get to catch up with both of them.  I am off to a good start with that particular holiday bucket list item.

In online favorites this week:

I loved this playlist from Katie at Hungry Runner.  There were some new to me songs on it, as well as some older ones I had forgotten about.  I came across her post while I was creating a new class playlist, so it was such perfect timing.

This paleo cinnamon raisin bread from Kelli at Hungry Hobby.  I feel like Hungry Hobby recipes and I are having a bit of a moment.  I made her pecan bars last week, and this bread this week.  Both were delicious.  For this loaf, I left out the coconut oil and used a little extra applesauce, it was an awesome addition to breakfast.

I love soup and this chicken parm soup from Jen at Olive Jude just looks so delicious and cozy.

Perspective is so important, this article really got me thinking about what truly irks me in situations and how to better handle them.

I love this workout advent calendar from the Fitnessista, what a fun way to sneak a little fitness in each day leading up to Christmas.

Well, friends, those are my favorites from the week.  What are you loving this week?  Any big weekend plans?

Hope you have an awesome weekend!

  1. That looks like a good haul from the health food store.
I click over to read the Greatist article and wow — I feel like they are so right. Those are the things that often upset me and I control whether I let them upset me. Totally needed that today. Thanks for sharing. xoxo

    1. It is always exciting to find awesome sales to stock up with. I’m glad you enjoyed it, it really got me thinking about how I can better manage my emotions and respond to things. Hope you have a great weekend Julie!

  2. Emily…why did you have to post that salsa?! I was at TJ’s last night and considered getting it but told myself to wait. Now I feel the need to drive back and get it…in Friday afternoon rush hour lol. Guess I’ll just have to pick it up next time I go (which for my wallets sake I hope isn’t soon).

    1. Sorry lady, I definitely know that feeling. When the hubs brought it home he mentioned that he had brought so to a work event before, and I was so sad that he hadn’t introduced me sooner lol. It will be there next time😉

  3. That salsa looks delicious…I’ve tried making homemade salsa and it never turns out as good as store bought!
And that mango la croix is calling my name!
    Have a great weekend!

    1. I feel like when I make salsa it never turns out how I want it to either. The hubs makes great salsa though, the next time he does I’ll have to write down his recipe so I can share it.

  4. Can’t wait to try that salsa! I love the TJs roasted vegetable salsa so never try any of the others, but that one sounds so good! This is super cheesy, but my favorite this week is my son. He is in such a fun stage and has been ridiculously happy and super independent lately, which makes normal life so fun! Have a great weekend!

  5. Ooh I love Trader Joe’s but I’ve never tried their salsa before! And surprisingly I’ve never tried La Croix either — but everyone RAVES about it!

  6. Ok I looked at the advent calendar and love it, but I’m confused:( Do I do each exercise every day or just a minute of walking first day and then day 2 exercises tomorrow, and so on???

    1. I think the idea is to add a little movement in each day. So today it’s a one mile walk or run, tomorrow two minutes of high knees and so on. That’s what I’m planning to do at least. Let me know if you follow along with it.
