Weekend recap

Hey guys! How was your weekend? We had a pretty great one over here. Though jam-packed, the time flew by and I can’t believe it’s already Monday!  We had some holiday events, as well as a graduation party and a birthday party, so it was definitely a celebratory vibe over here.

The weekend kicked off with my work holiday party, which is always a ton of fun. There are games and lunch. The food was delicious and I loved my white elephant gifts. I got a beautiful decanter and a wine bottle chiller.

Friday evening we had planned to go to Winterhaven (a neighborhood that puts on a big light display every year) to look at lights but ended up taking the babies to the park and having pizza with friends instead.  While I am still hoping to make it to Winterhaven this month, pizza and the park is never a bad way to spend an evening.

Saturday morning I taught my class (it was fun holiday-themed one I will share here this week) and then the family picked me up for a zoo date. I had family visiting from Phoenix, and between our kids and my little cousins, we had four kids, six and under.  With all the little ones, the zoo just seemed like the thing to do.  I am glad we did!  It was a beautiful day and we had a lovely time catching up and playing with the kids.

The little guys got to feed the giraffes.  We had actually never done the feeding before, it was really cool to see the giraffes so up close, they are so beautiful.  We also checked out the red pandas, which are new to the zoo and are super adorable.

After our family day, the kiddos went to have a sleepover with my in-laws so I could attend a graduation party (congrats Jamie!), followed by a birthday party.  Over the course of the evening, I got to spend time with a few old friends that I had not seen a lot of recently, and it was so good to catch up and chat, I had a blast!

Sunday started a little slow.  I am not used to being out late and was feeling pretty groggy when I first got up. I felt like the weather was also telling me to take it slow.  It was a chilly and rainy morning and continued to drizzle off and on all day.

Sunday afternoon, was my book club.  The Christmas meeting is always especially festive.  The hostess’s house was so beautifully decorated and the food was all amazing!  My plate is below on the right, that cream puff was homemade and pretty much what dreams are made of.  Also, how cute are those mice cookies?

For the holiday, we do a book exchange, I got Palisades Park, which I have not read before but am really excited to dive into.  I have heard that it is awesome.

The weekend wrapped up with the usual chores and getting ready for the week.

How was your weekend?  Any big plans for the week.  I need to get ready for Christmas, I cannot believe it is only a week away!  I am done shopping but have not wrapped a single thing.  This week I am planning to focus on getting some good workouts in and including plenty of produce in my diet.  It was a kind of an indulgent weekend and I know the holiday will bring more goodies, so I am striving to balance it out with plenty of fresh veggies and healthy meals.

Hope you have a great day!

  1. That’s so cool your zoo offers the opportunity to feed giraffes! I bet it was a crowd pleaser for your group. I’m right there with you on trying to get extra produce into my diet this week. It’s all dependent on what I have in my fridge though. The name of the meal game this week is “eat whatever will expire or go bad while we’re gone”.

You should plan to wrap a certain number of gifts each night once the kids go to bed so you don’t get overwhelmed!

    1. That is a great idea, otherwise I feel like I might end up wrapping all night Friday! I am going to do that. I always try to eat up everything in the fridge before going out of town too, I like to think of it as my own personal version of chopped lol.

  2. Giraffes are so cool! What a fun experience.
I had a kale smoothie yesterday because I felt like I needed SOMETHING green! lol!
Have a great start to your week!

  3. That sounds awesome! So cool you got to feed the giraffes!!! I picture a pretty funny picture of giraffes leaning over to take food from a six year old!

  4. Wow, sounds like a wonderful and festive weekend! How amazing that you got to go to the zoo and feed the giraffes! We haven’t been able to do that so far and it’s too cold for us to think of it until spring time. Oh well! Hooray for pizza and the park!

  5. I love reading about your adventures! This weekend was my husband’s work Christmas Party! It’s always super fun, lots of dancing, and a special Christmas card with perks inside! We had a blast; just he and I!! <3
