Highlights from the weekend + Big News!

Hey friends! How was your weekend? We had a pretty big one over here. Over the last few weeks, I feel like I have been doing lots of complaining about being busy on the blog and not really any elaborating as to why.  I want to apologize for that, I usually like to be more forthcoming about things, but I get a little superstitious about some things and I was afraid saying something would jinx it. So what have we been working on?

We bought a new house!

We started moving into our new house on Friday and it has been a whirlwind of packing, moving, unpacking, sleeplessness and emotions. We are so happy though. While most of the weekend was spent on move stuff.  Doing chores, cleaning and packing/unpacking can be pretty all-consuming, we did a few highlights I wanted to share.

One of the biggest highlights was all the help and support we had in moving, which we are so incredibly grateful for. We definitely could not have gotten everything done without the friend and family support. My step-dad, brother, brother-in-law and a good friend all assisted in some of the heavy lifting moving. My mom also watched the kids while we moved and set up beds the first night and sent us both dinner, and the fun goodies pictured above.

While most of the week was all hustle and bustle, we slowed down a bit to enjoy a family happy hour on our new back porch, and then took a walk around the new neighborhood Saturday evening. Notice the tiny hand, the little miss loved that spinach dip on the plate and was dipping and eating as fast as she could.

I had debated skipping my 40 Day Challenge meeting with everything that was going on but ended up taking a break to go.  I am so, so glad I did.  It was nice to hear how everyone’s experience with the fruit fast went and we had the most amazing yin yoga session.  I tend to convince myself I’m not as into yin yoga and rarely take a class. But then when I finally make it to a yin class, I am like yeah that was exactly what I needed. I left feeling so relaxed and de-stressed, it really shifted my whole perspective from where I was prior to class.

Sunday was mainly spent unpacking and trying to figure out what goes where. We did take a mid-morning break for some donuts though. The top right one got a little smudged, but it has the coolest, sparkly Mardi Gras inspired icing.

As we get more settled, I am hoping to have more workouts and recipes to share with you guys. I miss creating in the kitchen and gym and am excited to get back to it.

So tell me, what’s new with you? What did you do this past weekend?

  1. Congrats on the new house!! That is so exciting Emily! Saturday was spent running around but ended with a late Valentine’s Day dinner. Yesterday was spent relaxing at home so it was a pretty good weekend.

      1. Thank you! Hope your little one is feeling better, it is always so sad when a kiddo is ill.

    1. Thanks lady! We are really happy about it, now just to figure out where all this stuff should go, nothing like a move to make you aware of how much stuff you have.

    1. Thanks! I do think it is going to take us a while to figure out how we want things. Hope you have a great day!

    1. Thank you! I think the lead up, with everything in boxes, was harder on them then the move itself. We are fortunate to have family here to help with them though, so we were able to get there beds set up and stuff while they were with my mom, rather than trying to do it with them.

  3. Congratulations on your new home!! I can’t wait to see pictures! I’m sure it’s a lot of work but also very exciting! And those donuts! I also got donuts this weekend, attended a college roommates bridal shower and saw some old co-workers. It was a good one!

As for me, I spent last weekend on call. 😵 When not working I spent my time playing with my boys and enjoying the warm weather we have been having here in Eastern NC!

  6. Congrats on the new house! That’s awesome that you had so much help – moving definitely takes many hands. It’s nice that you decided to do yoga and it helped relax you. I’m sure everything with the move was stressful. And yum…donuts! 🙂

My husband and I saw the Beatles tribute band "Rain" on Sunday, and they were phenomenal.

    1. Thanks Paula! Our little happy
hour will definitely be a sweet memory. The tribute band sounds fun! Not the same, but I saw Love (the Beatles inspired Cirque de Soleil several years ago, and it was amazing! It was my first real introduction to The Beatles and I always think about it when The Beatles come up.
