Hey guys! How was your weekend? Mine was over in a blink. I worked all day Saturday and we had a pretty full day Sunday, so it just blew by. While it was a busy weekend, there was still some fun stuff in the mix.
I participated in a 5k with a friend of mine Sunday am. It was a lot of fun and I was happy with how I did, particularly since I really didn’t prepare or do much running leading up to it. While I would consider myself to be pretty active and have some sort of workout most days of the week, I don’t typically run more than a mile or so at a time. Sure, my Orangetheory workouts incorporate running, but typically it is intervals or walking, jogging, running and sprinting. So a steady state-run is not something I do too often and I was a little concerned about my ability to find and sustain a pace the whole time. Fortunately, I was able to find a groove and run the whole 5k. I think this is largely in part to my friend, who is a much more accomplished runner, starting us off at a good pace (thank you, you are so motivating and awesome!).
(Obligatory, post-race, sweaty no make-up photo).
At the finish line, the hubs and minis were waiting with flowers, which was such a sweet surprise. The babies helped to pick them out, they have great taste.
We spent the rest of the day running errands and hanging out as a family. We also skipped cooking Sunday night in favor of salad and pizza, it was a pretty sweet day. I was happy to get some time with my little loves after missing them all day Saturday.
In other news, this sweet little blog of mine is turning one today! I can’t believe it has been a year already!
When I first started this little blog, I was really looking for a creative outlet. The few years leading up had been a whirlwind of becoming a parent, becoming a parent again and taking on all sorts of responsibilities along the way. While that period of time marked some of the best things that have ever happened in my life, I also had some significant losses during that time, and it was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. Which had left me feeling somewhat lost and overwhelmed. Through becoming a personal trainer, starting to teach fitness classes and starting this blog, I was in the process of trying to find myself again, or perhaps find out who I was now after all that change.
While I still love being able to express myself here on the blog, the thing I love most is connecting with you guys. I have connected with so many amazing people on here and I am so amazed and inspired by all of you.
Let’s take a little trip down memory lane:
The first post on Pizza & Pull-Ups is here.
Some favorites have included Homemade Chocolate Coconut RX Bars (which desperately needs new photos, I will get on that guys), as well as these Dehydrator Zucchini Chips. I am glad to know you guys like to snack as much as I do and I will keep the snack recipes coming.
Friday Favorites have also been pretty popular, which I am really glad you like because I love writing them.
We have also done some working out over the year. Some of my favorites that I have shared are this Fall Into Fitness workout, a Creepy Cardio workout, a little core workout, and when I am feeling lucky, this deck of cards workout.
In the coming year, I hope to share more life stuff, workout ideas, and recipes. I really want to make sure I am including the topics you would like to see as well. Please let me know what you want to see more of!
Thank you for connecting with me and making this journey so worthwhile! You guys rock!
