Friday Favorites – 6/8/18

Hi friends! How are you? I have been looking forward to this weekend, so of course the week seemed to drag a bit. Glad to finally see you Friday, lol.

While the time moved slowly, it was actually a pretty fun week. We got in lots of after school/work swimming and play time, which was the perfect way to beat the very hot weather we have been having.

Another summer related favorite? Bruegger’s Bagels coconut iced coffee. I  love this coffee flavor. Knowing that it was back, I just had to treat myself to one, along with a breakfast sandwich. Eggs, bacon, muenster, and arugula on an everything bagel. It was delicious!

In other, good eats related favorites, I made these healthy peanut butter blondies at Maureen’s suggestion. They were so tasty, I will definitely be making them again.

I also had the real pleasure of getting a massage one evening this week. The hubs gave me a gift card for it for Mother’s Day and they finally had an opening that worked with my schedule. It was perfect timing, as after a couple of days of running around and swimming with the kids each evening, I was feeling a little ache-y.

Speaking of swimming with the kids, I am considering it an impromptu arm workout for the week. They love being lifted in and out and my arms were sore after a couple of days of it. Otherwise, it was a pretty tame workout week. I got a few gym workouts in, a really lovely yin yoga session, and am hitting up an early morning spin class today.

Speaking of workouts, Barre3 has a four-week challenge starting on June 17, which features free 10 minute workouts.  If you are interested, you can sign up here.  I plan on loosely following the challenge and making the most out of the free workouts.

Looking for a little fitness motivation?  Check out this list of the 100 most influential health and fitness people (as listed by Greatist), so many amazing people/stories!

As temperatures have stayed at over 100 degree highs over here, I have been all about salads and cooler meals.  This Crunchy Asian chopped salad from Eating Bird Food sounds delicious.

I am also thinking I need to make a batch of these falafel from Cookie and Kate to use in wraps and salads.

Now your turn, what have you been loving this week?  Any big weekend plans?  I have a few things planned, some of which are surprises to the hubs, so shhh 😉 .  Hope you have a great weekend!

Friday Favorites – Peonies and Puppy Toys

Happy Friday friends! Hope you are having a great day and looking forward to an even better weekend!

It is a three-day weekend for us and I am very much looking forward to some extra friend and family time. Before we get to the weekend though, let’s recap the highlights of the week.

I popped into Trader Joe’s Tuesday night and was so excited to see all the lovely peonies out on display. I love peonies and could not resist taking home a little bouquet. They have been brightening up my day all week.

I recently snagged some class passes for my favorite cycling studio during a semi-annual sale they were having. I managed to sneak in a class this week, and it was exactly the music bumping awesome time I remembered it being! This class, in addition to my usual Orangetheory, quick cardio workouts and some yoga have made for a great week of workouts

This week I also received some goodies from my friends over at Influenster. They occasionally send me items to try out, and these items were sent to me complimentary for the purpose of review. The dog toy from Barkbox is already a huge hit, little Moglei is loving it!

I have been meaning to start making more of my own snacks each week. I used to make bars all the time, but had gotten out of the habit. These Berry lemon breakfast bars and Chocolate sweet potato bars will both need to happen soon I think.

I had never even heard of a solar oven, but it looks like such a cool activity and I am wondering if my little dude would be old enough for it (with lots of help and supervision of course).

What are you loving this week? Are you heading into a long weekend? Any fun travel plans or adventures? We are not traveling, but have some fun little get togethers and activities planned for this weekend.

Hope you have a great one!

Happiest of Friday’s friends!!! How was your week? Any big weekend plans? Aside from moving at groggy turtle speed it was a pretty good week over here. We had some good fitness moments, some super sweet Mom moments, I caught up on Westworld, all good things!

Now for some favorites….

First up, early Mother’s Day love. My son’s class hosted a “Muffins with Mom” event this week, and the kids (thanks husband) sent me some chocolate covered strawberries to my office earlier this week. The strawberries were so sweet and unexpected. The Muffins with Mom event was just the best.  The card below reads “you are my sunshine.”  When I was reading it, the little dude emphatically told me that I am his sunshine, and then my heart exploded. It was just the best feeling and I can’t wait to spend some quality time with my favorite little people this weekend.

In less sentimental favorites, I picked up this new concealer a few weeks ago and am just loving it. I like that Tarte products are not full of weird ingredients and this concealer covers nicely while still feeling super light.

I had been thinking about trying out the Four Sigmatic line for a while, as I had heard that it it great for supporting the brain.  But finally decided to order some a couple of weeks ago after it took me three weeks to notice that someone I see most days had their cast removed. Obviously my brain does need a hug. I find the flavor of this elixir enjoyable (kind of a tea flavor, with some anise undertones), and am enjoying having it as a little afternoon pick me up. I am definitely looking forward to trying some of the coffee and hot cocoa varieties. I got it at Thrive Market (<- referral link), but have seen some Four Sigmatic products on Amazon and at Sprouts.

Still looking for something for Mom? This list has some great goods at affordable prices, I especially love the tea towels.

I have a little meditation corner at home that makes me happy, but this chocolate and wine filled “Lady parlor” is what dreams are made of.

I definitely feel my best somewhere in the “Grey area of eating” and appreciated Tina’s take on it.

So friends….tell me what you are loving this week. I always love hearing about your new favorites?

Do you have any big plans this weekend? Hope you have a wonderful weekend and happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mommas out there!

Friday Favorites – 5/4/18 – Give me all the Poke Bowls

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my disclosure here.  Thank you for your support!

Happy, happy Friday! How was your week? It was a pretty good one over here. We had more packed in than I had initially planned, but if we are being honest, that’s kind of my style. So while busy, I feel like it was a super productive work week.  The babies and I got some good park time and fun hangout time in, and I got some pretty good workouts in.

Being that it is Friday, I am in the mood to talk Favorites, so let’s get started!

First up, homemade poke bowls. I used tofu for these because it was convenient for my meal prep, they were so good! I had one for dinner Monday and then for lunch Tuesday and Wednesday, and was honestly pretty bummed that there wasn’t more for lunch Thursday. They will definitely be a regular in the summer rotation. Let me know if you would like me to share how I make them.

Tuesday night I had an evening meeting at the gym I teach at, and was able to squeeze in a little dinner date beforehand with a good friend and her super adorable baby. We went to Beyond Bread, which is always a favorite, though it had been a while since I had been there. Turns out they came out with some new sandwiches while I was away. This masterpiece below is Tito’s Torta and has ham, bacon, provolone, avocado and a jalapeño spread. Something totally different than the salad I usually get, but also totally delicious.

As I mentioned earlier, it was also a pretty good workout week. I managed to make it to Orangetheory twice (and resolve my heart rate monitor issues, yeah). Last night, I also hit up a yoga class, which was exactly what I needed after a couple of days of heavy strength and cardio workouts. I was also able to get in plenty of walks in the beautiful spring weather we have been having. Sadly, my allergies have not been loving the weather, but it’s just to nice out to not be outside as much as possible.

In the blog world this week:

I stumbled across a gallery photo wall post with templates and measurements that I am pretty excited about. Decorating is not a strength of mine (I tend to be pretty minimalist and will leave walls empty for ages), but I really want to figure out a nice display of baby pictures. I’m thinking this will help me a lot.

How cute are these DIY succulent soaps from Pretty Simple Ideas?

These Amish sugar cookies sound so good, and I am pretty sure I have all the ingredients on hand, so they maybe happening this weekend.

I am forever on the hunt for new workout music, so I was pretty excited to see this new playlist Gina shared.

So friends, what are you loving this week?  Poke bowls yeah or nah?  Any great workout songs to share?

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Friday Favorites – 4/27/18 – Fair, Food and Fun!

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my disclosure here.  Thank you for your support!

Hey friends! How’s your week been? It has been a pretty fun one over here, though I am feeling a bit behind on life now. We have been super go, go, go recently.  Which I actually really enjoy, but part of my brain is like yo, we need to clean, get things organized and SLEEP!

In usual fashion, I wanted to share some favorites from the week. This was a particularly fun one to put together, because there were lots of things I really enjoyed from my week.

During my solo shopping experience last week, I picked up this facial scrub from TJs. I liked that it didn’t have any funky ingredients, and at only 5.99, was a super affordable skin care find. It is nice and gentle, and makes me feel just a little pampered each time I use it.

I mentioned this on Wednesday, but I ended up getting to meet a friend for dinner on Tuesday. We went to a new Poke place in town, which I was super excited to try. It just opened a week or so ago, and it took a long time for my friend’s order to come up (she ordered before me but I had my food way before), so think they are still working out the kinks. My meal was awesome though! I went with crab and spicy tuna, I’m pretty sure I could eat a poke bowl every day.

When it comes to sunglasses, I go super cheap. I tend to be rough on them, throwing them into my purse and letting the babies play with them, so they get dinged up pretty quick. Because of this, I am always almost in need of a new pair.  The hubs picked me up this pair that I just love and am doing my darnedest to keep in good shape. I love the shape and the tint of the lenses.

The new shades came in super handy when we decided to take the kids to the fair last-minute on Wednesday. The county fair is in town, and we really hadn’t planned to go as I thought the kids were too little to be interested in rides.  However, some friends had extra tickets they offered us (Thank you!), so we decided why not, and figured we could at least enjoy some fair food and check out the animals (I love the pygmy goats).  Turns out, I was way off about the babies and rides.  They LOVED them.  I was nervous at the top of that Ferris wheel, my little guy, no fear at all, he was thrilled!  It was a great time!

Online there have been so many yummy looking things floating around.  I am especially excited to try these:

Chocolate cherry espresso oatmeal bars from Confessions of a Mother Runner.  These sound like three of my favorite flavors all combined into one healthy bar.

I love lemon desserts and these Greek yogurt lemon bars from Skinny Fitalicious sound like the perfect summer time treat.

This pasta primavera from Looney for Food looks so delicious and springy!

Also a big congrats to my friend Kelli over at Hungry Hobby.  Such exciting new and a super inspiring story.

So friends, what are you loving this week?  Any big weekend plans?  Do you splurge on sunglasses?  I will rock those free pairs they give out at events forever.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Friday Favorites – 4/20/18 – Who doesn’t love shoes and snacks

This post may contain affiliate links and referral codes, please see my disclosure here.  Thank you for your support!

Happy Friday friends! I can’t believe how fast this week has gone by.  I feel like I blinked and we were at the end of the week. How was your week? Was it a fast one or a slow one for you?

I was actually expecting the week to drag a bit, mainly because it has been super windy recently and my allergies have been flaring up.  But despite being a little foggy headed all week, it was a productive, fast and fun one.

Now let’s check out some weekly highlights. I always love hearing about your favorites, so let me know what you are loving this week in the comments.

First up, new kicks! I had been wanting some casual sneakers to wear while chasing kiddos. Not gym shoes, just comfy go with everything sneakers. I was thrilled to find these white Pumas at Costco for 25 dollars, they are comfortable and just what I was looking for. I found a similar style here.

I also ordered these Madden Girl sandals from Thred Up recently. They don’t look like they have ever been worn and fit perfectly. I think they will get a lot of use this Spring and Summer.

The kids and I have a deep love of the unsweetened dried mango from Trader Joe’s. It is so good.  Which ends up meaning the bag is almost always gone the first time it is opened. We were delighted to find a big bag of unsweetened dried mangoes at Costco! Yes to a bag that lasts!

I have also been loving some yoga this week. I had an especially challenging strength workout Monday that left me pretty sore. I attended a sweaty vinyasa flow class Tuesday that helped to stretch out those achy muscles, and a super relaxing yin class last night. It was glorious.

In parenting related chuckles, a friend sent this to me a week or so ago, and it still has me laughing. Bedtime can be a struggle!

Some online favorites this week:

These BBQ Tempeh Chips from Eating Bird Food look awesome!

Tina at Carrots ‘n’ Cake share these delightful looking meal prep breakfast cookies I am looking forward to trying.

This Thai curry from Tastes Lovely looks right up my alley, I can’t wait to try it.

So friends, what are you loving this week?  Any big weekend plans?  I have book club this weekend, and am a little nervous because I host in May, so I have to bring book options to vote on to this meeting.  Any book suggestions?  Especially anything you loved that maybe wasn’t a really well-known book?

Hope you have a great weekend!

Friday Favorites – 4/13/18

Happy Friday the 13th friends! How are you today? Are you superstitious about Friday the 13th? I’m not, but it does always make me feel like I should watch a horror movie, perhaps I will see if the hubs is up for watching one tonight.

This week has been a good one.  I am working on being more mindful, and have been really trying to savor the good things as they occur. In true fashion, food and loved ones have been a major favorite feature (because what’s better than food with your favorite peeps?) all week long.

First up, a lovely lunch date with an old friend. I hadn’t seen her in a while and it was so nice to catch up a bit. We went to Corner Bakery, which is a favorite of mine. I had a spring salad (lots of fruit on it) with half an Italian Panini.  The sandwich was ok, the salad was great, but the company was the best part.

Tuesday evening as a whole was a favorite of mine because I felt like it was that perfect little balance of doing what you need to do and what you want to do that can be oh so elusive at times. It had been a pretty meh day for me (not because of anything, just not in the best mood) and I was not looking forward to working out, making dinner or working on unpacking the boxes still in the garage. Which has been a focus of ours this week. Really what I wanted to was chill with the babies and ignore all my chores and to-dos. After consulting with the hubs, a compromise plan was made. He picked up the babies while I hit up an OTF Class, then we met for dinner at a favorite Mexican joint.

Boom, happy life balance achieved.  The workout made me feel better, the babies were excited about burritos and a hibiscus margarita became a new favorite drink of mine. We even managed to tackle a little unpacking after putting the babies to bed.

I have shared my love of getting goodies and samples in the mail many times on the blog, but I don’t know if I have mentioned that Target does periodic sample boxes. You can check them out here. I recently ordered this face mask one for $7.00 and am super excited to try them all out.

As I mentioned above, I made it to Orangetheory on Tuesday, which was a great workout! I have also been doing a lot of online barre workouts through Physique 57. I have been using a trial membership and love their workouts! I don’t know that I will keep a membership, just because I prefer to workout not at home when I can, but would definitely consider it if I needed to do more workouts at home.  Since it is pretty low impact and quiet, it makes for a great nap time workout. I also managed to get in some yoga last night, which was exactly the stretchy meditative self-care I needed.

Online this week:

Glitter on a dime shared this Chocolate frozen yogurt bark earlier this week that looks so good! I can’t wait to try it with the babies, I think they will love it!

I could always use a Healthy one-handed snack.

I stumbled across these healthy peanut butter blondies on Pinterest, and can’t wait to make a batch this weekend.

So friends, what are you loving this week? Any big plans for the weekend? We are looking at a busy one, I have bachelorette party tomorrow night and we a kiddo birthday party and some other little plans, so it should be packed full of fun. Hopef, ully we can squeeze some unpacking and chores in as well lol.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Hi friends! Happy Friday to you! How was your week? We had a pretty great one over here. Nice blend of productivity, workouts, family time and a dinner out (highly unusual, we almost never get to all go out to eat together, especially not during the week).

Let’s start with something that is always a favorite in my book, good eats!

I recently discovered these cheese crisps at TJs and am loving them. I think they have been around a while, but are new to me. They are delightfully crisp and cheesy. They are also super rich, so I am happy with a few, rather than wanting to eat half a bag, which is how I normally am with crackers. I would definitely recommend them if you are looking for a high protein snack option or a gluten-free snack.

This week we also enjoyed a celebratory dinner with my parents at a local favorite, Guadalajara Grill. I hadn’t been there in ages, but greatly enjoyed this bigger than anticipated margarita.

As well as an equally huge enchilada sampler. That is a pork Chile verde, chicken mole and red Chile cheese enchilada. All delicious, but the Chile verde sauce was my fave. It was also so much food, I left stuffed, and had enough for my lunch plus half the hubs lunch the next day. The kids were huge fans as well, I’m pretty sure the little lady ate her weight in fresh tortilla chips.

The hubs and I started this documentary called Wild Wild Country on Netflix late last week and managed to finish it this week. It is fascinating! The documentary tells the story of a group in the 80s that essentially started a town in Oregon and did and/or was accused of tons of bizarre and awful stuff. Including trying poison a neighboring town! They were considered a religious cult, though they at one point stated they were not a religious group. At their largest, there were around 50,000 people in it. I won’t give too much away, but it was super interesting and I can’t believe I had never heard of this group before.

In online favorites:

Ashley over at A Lady Goes West is running a Water Challenge this week. Which has been a nice reminder for me to up my water intake a little, especially as it’s started to heat up in AZ.

Warm weather also means grilling weather, this Broccoli slaw recipe from Running in a Skirt sounds like the perfect accompaniment to a grilled dinner.

I really enjoyed this article, How to be a better person from The Greatist. I love little changes that can make a huge impact in your life or your interactions with others.

I have been loving all of Maureen’s cute puppy pics, you can meet her new puppy here.

Now your turn, what are you loving this week? Any big plans for the weekend? We have some kiddo related events and I have a book club meeting on Sunday that I am looking forward to.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend! See you Monday!

Friday Favorites + a giveaway! 3/30/18

Hey friends! How are you today? Ready for the holiday weekend? I was actually off yesterday and today, so I feel like I am already a bit settled into the weekend.

Let’s get to some favorites, shall we?

My biggest favorite of the week has been a little extra downtime. I took yesterday off for some appointments and errands and took today off to hang out with my babies since their school is closed today. It was so nice to be able to get some stuff done yesterday so that I can focus on having fun with my littles today. We are going to color some Easter eggs and have some friends coming for dinner this evening.

Speaking of the babies, they got some new duds this week and are looking pretty adorable. They needed some new Spring gear, so I was scoping out the selection on ThredUp (<-referral link, get yourself $10 off your first order). They both ended up helping me select some items for themselves. Below is a sampling of the little misses selections, she described the dress as “very oh la la.” She looks adorable in it.

The babes and I have also been loving Pig the Pug this week. We picked things up at the kid’s last Scholastic book fair and has been a favorite ever since. It is just so cute and fun.

I have also been all about the grocery store sushi recently. I haven’t found one that is as great as actually going to sushi, but have still found some pretty tasty ones. I have been grabbing them occasionally for a quick lunch and it has been helping to keep my sushi cravings at bay.

I have also been loving these Prince of Peace Ginger Chews.  I received a bag of these in a Love with Food Box not too long ago and fell in love with them.  I love that spicy sweet ginger flavor, and paired with a little lemon flavor…amazing!  I liked them so much, that I reached out to the company to learn a little more about them.  They were kind enough to send me some of their other flavors to try (currently really digging on the mango), as well as a bag of their ginger lemon chews to share.    I would love to share this favorite with you, just comment below for a chance to win.  For a bonus chance, follow me on Instagram and check out Prince of Peace’s feed, just leave a second comment letting me know you followed below.  Giveaway will be open through Monday, and I will be announcing a winner in Wednesday’s (April 4th) post.

On the workout front, there has been a variety this week.  After really enjoying the 5k Sunday, I went for a short run Tuesday evening.  It was okay, but definitely less fun than running with a friend.  Also, my shins were not loving it.  I also hit up an Orangetheory  class this week, which featured a mile row!  Other than that I have been loving some at home workouts.  I am using a trial of Physique 57 right now, which is streaming barre classes, and have also been enjoying some online yoga classes this week as well.

Around the internet this week, I am loving:

This quick glute workout from Confessions of a Mother Runner, I love a fast and effective workout!.

I have been all about quick vegetarian dinners recently, and this Vegetable Risotto from the Minimalist Baker looks right up my alley.

Spring has me thinking about carrot cake (one of the best cakes in my personal opinion, especially with a good cream cheese frosting).  So I have been delighted to see so many healthier options popping up.  These Carrot Cake Quinoa Muffins from Hungry Hobby look amazing.  This Vegan Almond Flour Carrot Cake from Skinny Fitalicious also looks pretty delicious.

So friends, what are your plans for the weekend?   Any special Easter or Passover traditions?  We are doing an Easter egg hunt with friends and having brunch with family to celebrate.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Friday Favorites 3/23/18

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my disclosure here.  Thank you for your support!

Happy Friday friends! How was your week? Any big weekend plans? I have a work event and am also running a 5k with a friend. I have done exactly zero training and the only running I have done in probably the last two months has been in Orangetheory classes, so this may be more of a walk/run affair. Wish me luck!

Now onto favorites. I know I have mentioned this before, but I really love putting this post together each week. I had a few big stressors at the beginning of the week that really got things off to a rough start, and I was feeling pretty negative a lot of the week. Putting this post together really helped me refocus on the positive and start climbing out of my bad mood.

First up, a little ice cream date with the family. On Tuesday, I happened to be stuck in traffic near a Dairy Queen that seemed unusually hopping, turns out it was free cone day! After dinner, the hubs and I loaded up the kids, and off we went to enjoy our cones.

I have also been loving this roller from Physique 57 that came in my last FabFitFun (<-referral link) box. The best thing about it?  My baby girl loves rolling it up and down my back, winning! This has been an especially nice treat as I have made it to Orangetheory Sunday, Monday and Wednesday this week and was definitely feeling a bit sore.

I have also been focusing on maintaining a meditation practice since ending my 40 Days to Personal Revolution program. I have been putting together a little meditation and yoga corner in my room and ordered this sweet little set to hold incense. I still need to get a couple of tea lights for it, but I am so in love with it!

I also tried out a new to me dressing from TJ’s this week. You guys, this stuff is delicious! If you like cilantro I would suggest checking it out.

These Peanut butter protein eggs from Hungry Hobby look amazing! I can’t wait to make these this weekend to help me get ready for Easter.

I love overnight oats, and this strawberry s’more variation sounds great.

Did you know you could bake bread in a crockpot? Me neither, but I can’t wait to try this Crockpot bread recipe. This would be such an awesome way to have fresh bread when it’s a million degrees here during the summer.

So friends, what are you loving this week? Any plans for the weekend? If you are looking for a quick workout, this one from yesterday is a burner!

Hope you have a great one and see you Monday!
