Weekend highlights – Good times with good friends

Hey guys! How was your weekend? I for one, can’t believe it is Monday already, the weekend flew by.  I suppose that’s what happens when you’re having fun though.

Friday kicked off with the usual friends and swimming time after school/work. Followed by the hubs and I finally getting around to hanging up some art after the kids went to bed. Outside of some stuff in the kid’s rooms, this was the first round of wall stuff to go up, and I was quite pleased with it. We are slowly getting settled into the new place. The middle picture mainly looks like a reflection of me in the photo, but it’s actually a close up of a geode.

Saturday am, I hit up an Orangetheory Class. Not going to lie, it was a bit rough (in a good way though), endurance days always get me.

Midday, we were treated to a long-awaited visit from an old friend who lives in Phoenix. Because of both of our crazy schedules, we had not actually gotten together since January.  It had been way to long, it was SO nice to see her.   I laid out some snacks so we could lunch and visit at the house.

Then we went shopping and for pedicures as the babies while the hubs stayed with the babies. It was a glorious little girl’s afternoon and so nice to catch up.

Later in the day, I got to take my dude to a birthday party at a jumping castle place. I always feel like the biggest kid there, as I have so much fun going through the obstacles with him.

Sunday, we all slept in a little (thank you babies), before tucking into a delicious, although maybe not the most attractive breakfast ever. I tend to cycle through favorite meals and avocado toast has been my jam recently.

Afterwards, I hit up a yoga class with a friend. I definitely need to up my yoga time, my hamstrings were so tight. I am definitely going to try to focus on stretching more throughout the week.

In the afternoon, we had a friends stop by to see the new place and catch up a bit. Then headed to a pool party to celebrate a kiddo birthday.   Summer time parties by the pool are always such a blast. We all had a great time and headed home tired, and ready to chill and get ready for the week.

How was your weekend? Any adventures to share? What are you looking forward to this week?

Weekend Highlights – Fun in the sun

Hey friends! How are you today? For those in the US, happy Memorial Day! Hope you are up to something fun!

The hubs and I are both off today and have some plans with the kiddos, as well as a little movie date planned.  I wanted to pop in to saw hi before we start our day, and share a few weekend highlights!

Saturday morning started way too early for a weekend (like 4:15!) because that is when the little miss decided it was time to get up. The positive to the early morning wake up was that I got some one on one time with my little miss reading a new library find.  It is a pretty cute little story.  The negative was that in my half awake stupor, I accidentally sprinkled paprika instead of cinnamon in my coffee.  Fortunately I noticed before taking a swig.

At a more reasonable early of 7:15, I headed to a spin class. Which was just what I needed to get woken up and ready for the day. I love when they have all the different club lights going, I find it to be such a mood booster.

The rest of Saturday was all usual hanging out and errand time. I was not feeling great (felt fine Sunday, so I think just allergies/tiredness), so I made popcorn and pulled out some blankets to have a little movie party with the kids in the afternoon. The hubs was out Saturday evening, so after the kids went to bed, I decided to have a little relax, Emily time. I took a bath, sipped some Reishi elixir and used a face and lip mask. The lip mask looked hilarious on, like giant pink cartoon lips.

Sunday morning we all got a little more sleep, then dug into pancakes and bacon for breakfast.

Sunday quickly shaped up to be a true Sunday fun-day. After a leisurely breakfast, I met up with a friend for a yoga and a pint workout class at a local restuarant. They have an open air courtyard, which made for a lovely yoga session. It was also a treat, and felt kinda vacation like to enjoy a beer and catch up time with a friend afterwards.

After yoga, I swooped up the fam to go swimming for a bit, then it was home for baby nap time and a little at home lunch date with the hubs. He picked us up sandwiches from Beyond Bread, I had a brie and turkey number on baguette.  Which is an all time favorite of mine.  I accessorized with carrots and hummus, grapes and a kombucha on the side.

After nap time, we quickly got ready and were off to a Memorial Weekend BBQ/house-warming party. It was with some old friends we had not seen in ages. We had a blast letting the kids play and catching up. So much so, that I forgot to snap any pictures. Oops!

How was your weekend? Are you off today? If so, any big plans?

Hope you have a great one!

Weekend Highlights – Books & Barre

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my disclosure here. Thank you for your support!

Hey friends! How was your weekend? Is it feeling like summer where you’re at? It definitely is here. This weekend was full of little adventures, just like I like it. It also involved lots of cleaning, shout out to the hubs who is a master kitchen cleaner!

Saturday morning started bright and early with some family grocery shopping, before I was off for a workout. Our local Barre 3 was celebrating their fourth birthday with free classes, so a friend and I hit up an early class. I had not taken an in person barre class in a while, and it was a blissfully hard class. The also had a DJ and lots of fun festivities going on before and after class.

After class, the family and I headed to our little dude’s end of season basketball performance. He was feeling a bit shy, and ended up sitting with me for most of the performance.  But it was still nice to see what skills they learned this year. He also enjoyed everyone cheering when he got his trophy.

In the afternoon, we went to check out the snakes at a nearby pet store (kids love it, but they always freak me out a bit).

Dinner was Sauce takeout, including my favorite potato pizza and roasted veggie salad. The hubs selected a sausage and caramelized onion pizza, which was also delicious.

Sunday, we were all up early and I was craving pancakes, so we went to breakfast at a nearby restaurant known for their pancakes. We all shared a pecan roll pancake, which was sweet, fluffy decadence.  I had some eggs and bacon on the side for a little savory balance.

We spent the rest of the morning swimming, before heading home to get ready for my book club. It’s my month to host, so lots of cleaning and what not to do. This book club is a potluck style, so everyone brings something to share. I made a cinnamon cake with cinnamon glaze, adapted from this recipe. As well as some honey goat cheese balls with green onion and cranberry. I was so please with how the goat cheese balls turned out, I will put together the recipe and share later this week.

The book we read was My Abandonment, which follows a 13 year old girl who at the start of the book is living in the forest outside of Portland, OR with her father.  To be honest, I am still not sure what I think about this book, it is interesting and kind of dark.  I just still have so many questions about the main characters.  They are coming out with a movie adaptation.  Which I kind of want to see, to see how they present the characters.

Sunday wrapped up with a nice, sweaty power yoga class and a cup of reishi mushroom elixir. I have really been enjoying the mushroom elixirs, this one is supposed to help support healthy sleep.  I was feeling pretty relaxed after yoga already, but a little additional relaxation help never hurts.

So tell me about your weekend. Was it a relaxing one? Busy? Combo of both? Did you watch the royal wedding? I did not, but from the pictures I have seen floating around Facebook, it looked lovely.

Looking for a workout to start off your week? How about this circuit workout or a quick cardio workout.

Hope you have a great day!

Weekend Recap – Feeling the Mother’s Day Love

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my disclosure here. Thank you for your support!

Hey, hey! How was your weekend?

Our weekend started out on an especially fun note, we were invited to pool party/BBQ at a local community center.  It was so fun!  There was swimming, summer food and live music. After the hustle and bustle of the work week it felt like being on vacation. Most of the time I was camera free in the pool with the babes, but I did get to snag a quick picture of my little guy’s dinner. I feel like a hot dog by the pool is pretty much summer in a nutshell.

After our fun family time, I quickly got ready and headed out for a ladies night, which was also a blast! I was able to catch up with some lovely women I know, that I rarely get to see. There were also margaritas, wins all around.

Saturday morning I had every intention of going to Orangetheory, and woke up with plenty of time to, but I ended up staying home to eat breakfast with the babies and do some sticker art. It was a lovely morning, and check out that avocado toast, courtesy of chef hubs.

Later in the afternoon, we took my mom shopping and to an early dinner for Mother’s Day. We went to restaurant called Zinburger, which has delicious burgers, and is super kid friendly. I had the signature Zinburger, which has manchego cheese and braised onions. We also shared some zucchini fries. It was a great, multi-generational mom date.

The rest of the evening was spent hanging out and going to bed early. I am so glad I went to bed early, because I just could not stay asleep at all Saturday night.  I woke up around 1:00 AM and was basically awake off and on the rest of the night.

Sunday morning, while the plan was to sleep in, I ended up getting up as soon as the babes did, since I was having trouble sleeping anyways. I was greeted by beautiful homemade cards and flowers, and the hubs running out for bagels and coffee. I just love homemade cards, I think they are the sweetest thing and they always make me all misty eyed.

We then decided to make the most of the cooler morning and headed to a new to us playground. Followed by a trip to Trader Joe’s, which was mildly terrifying because we let both the kids take a try at pushing the little carts. They really enjoy it, and listen pretty well, but aren’t always super aware of where other shoppers are. Fortunately we avoided any actual run ins.

After quickly dropping off groceries, we headed to the zoo. It was a beautiful morning, and lots of animals were out. Including the otters, which are a favorite of mine.

While it was a beautiful morning, we didn’t stay too long. The kids and I were all starting to get a little hangry and we decided lunch and some chill time was needed. After lunch, I decided to take advantage of wannabe nap/rest time (my kiddos nap great at school, rarely at home) and hit up a yoga class. This class is a “karma class,” all cash donations that are donated to a local charity, which felt just right on Mother’s Day. I always love checking out the alters at yoga studios, so soothing.

The rest of the day was spent enjoying my littles. We washed cars and splashed in the baby pool while the hubs prepared us this Mediterranean kebab feast. Which included the kebabs, grilled corn, hummus and tzatzaki and grilled naan. It was such a nice way to celebrate Mother’s Day and a warm Sunday afternoon. Also, plenty of yummy leftovers for lunch mañana.

So friends, tell me about your weekend. What did you do? Any thing on the horizon for this week? Do you have summer vacation plans yet? I always gets a case of wanderlust when I start seeing graduations happening. It always seems to signal travel time to me.

Hope you have a great day!

Weekend recap – All the eats and a wedding!

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my disclosure here.  Thank you for your support!

Hey friends, how was your weekend? We made the most of it over here, with pretty action packed days each day.

I had planned to have a friend over for wine and snacks after the babies went to bed Friday, but she ended up needing to stay home with a sick little one, so I finished up a book I was reading, before heading to bed around 9:00 PM. Wild Friday nights happening over here, lol. It was a pretty good book though, Palisades Park, about a family who grew up and worked in the famous Palisades Park of New Jersey. It was not a book I think I would have picked on my own (it had been a Christmas gift), but I really enjoyed it. I think that’s one of the best parts of receiving books as gifts, getting to read something you never would have thought of yourself.

Saturday morning, I had every intention of starting with a workout, but it was beautiful outside, so we decided taking the babies to the park was a better idea than hitting the gym. Being outside (with a nice cup of coffee) on a spring morning really is the best. I also did do some body weight exercises at the playground, which the babies found pretty entertaining.

(Old picture, same ol iced coffee)

After morning park time, I was off to teach class and get a pedicure before we picked up lunch and headed over to my in-laws. They were watching the kiddos for us Saturday evening, so we could attend a wedding and we wanted to celebrate Mother’s Day with my mother-in-law a bit as well. We brought over Beyond Bread. I didn’t get that delicious sandwich again though, opting for my usual salad instead, which was just as good as it always is.  The hubs got the Tito Torta though and agreed that it was delicious.

After a nice family afternoon, the hubs and I ran home, got ready and were off to a wedding of a good friends. The wedding was beautiful and we had a blast celebrating the bride and groom. It was also a bit sentimental, as it was the same venue we got married in. We were so busy catching up with old friends that we missed the actual cake cutting, but isn’t it a beautiful cake? I love the little pops of colors the flowers add and the textures in the frosting.

Sunday morning we slept in until almost 7:00 (late in our world at least), then headed out to meet the babies and my in-laws for breakfast. We introduced them to the hubs’ favorites breakfast spot, and I tried one of their breakfast taco dishes. They make their own corn tortillas, and they are so good.

A little later in the day, I headed to my book club brunch. I was still full from breakfast, but couldn’t resist getting a caramel cappuccino after seeing some of the other ladies drinking them.

The rest of Sunday was spent getting ready for the week and visiting with my aunt and cousin who were in town. It was great to see them and for them to get to see how big the babies are getting.

So friends, tell me about your weekend? Did you do anything for Cinco de Mayo or the Kentucky Derby? Do you have a favorite bunch dish?

Hope you have a great day!

A Day in the Life: Weekend Edition

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my disclosure here.  Thank you for your support!

Hey friends! How are ya? Hope you had a nice weekend. Instead of my normal weekend recap, I thought I’d share a day in the life. This was Saturday, which was a really busy day, but lots of fun.

5:45 AM Wake up. For a brief moment, I thought everyone was still sleeping, but within in a few minutes everyone was up. I snuggled on the couch with the babies while drinking my coffee. I shook up an iced coffee with almond milk, collagen and a little MCT oil.

7:00 AM Orangetheory. I knew we would be running around most of the weekend, so I wanted to make sure I got a good workout in early. It was a good one using all sort of equipment (ab dolly, bands, TRX). I love ones that use a lot of equipment, I feel like it makes the workout fly by.

8:30 AM Breakfast. After class, I made a quick breakfast of leftover sausage, Brussel sprout and potato hash with an egg on top. It was delicious. After breakfast I played with the kids a bit and took a quick shower.

10:00 AM Teach class. I teach a 30 minute seated workout class Saturday mornings. It is a fun group and was a great class. After class I rushed home for a quick wardrobe change and to collect my little family before we were off again.

11:00 AM Baby shower. We went to a friend’s sprinkle for their second baby. It was a great shower for the whole family and I loved all the decorations. They had a pineapple theme, which was super cute. They even made Ferrero Rocher chocolates into little pineapples, so clever!  There was also a Mexican food lunch, which I always love. The rice was especially good.

1:30 PM Chore time.  We got home around 1:30 and tried to get the babies to take a nap, which was pretty unsuccessful. So while they kind of rested, the hubs and I blitzed through some chores and cleaning. Before heading out for our second party of the day.

4:00 PM Birthday party time! We attended a 1st birthday at the park.  The birthday boy was so cute, and I always love watching babies dive into their first birthday cake. They had a nacho bar and it was right by the playground, which was just perfect for the babies. It was an outer space theme, which was a lot of fun. We also saw several old friends we hadn’t seen in a while, so it was great to catch up a bit. Check out this cute little smash cake the birthday boy’s grandma made.

7:30 PM.  Night out.  I met up with a friend later in the evening for drinks and catching up, and my brother-in-law and sister-in-law later joined us. It was a great time, but definitely a later night than anticipated.

So there you have it friends, a jam packed Saturday. It was a busier day than usual, but so nice to get to see so many people and catch up. Also the kids were thrilled to have some many friends to play with, not to mention two events involving cake in one day.  We also got to enjoy a much more relaxed Sunday, which was much appreciated by this tired lady.

What did you do this past weekend? Do you prefer a busy weekend or a laid back, unplanned one? I like being on the go, but was grateful for some downtime yesterday, after what seems to have been a busy last few weeks.

Hope you have a great day!

Weekend Highlights – Unmeasured workouts and grocery store alone time

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my disclosure here.  Thank you for your support!

Hey guys! How was your weekend? We had another busy one over here. Not as many big outings as we have had recently, but lots of little things and the hubs had events all weekend. It kind of felt like we were just high fiving as we passed each other.

Friday night started with the usual pizza and park with friends, followed by something that doesn’t happen all that often. I went grocery shopping….ALONE.  Now don’t get me wrong, I love grocery shopping with the babies, but it was pretty nice to leisurely stroll the aisles on my own and be able to read labels.  Also, I didn’t forget anything, which pretty much never happens with the entourage in tow.

Saturday morning started with an Orangetheory Class, which was both good and frustrating. It was a great workout, but my heart rate monitor would not sync, so I could not track how I was doing. A definite first world, not a real problem, problem, but I was still a bit annoyed about it.

On Saturday I also had a mini reunion lunch with some of the ladies from my master’s program (it’s been 8 years since we graduated, ahhhh). We had lunch at Culinary Dropout. It was so nice to see them all and catch up on everyone’s lives.  I got the butternut squash cannelloni, which was good, but I was having a little burger envy.  One of the ladies ordered a burger and fries, and it looked so good.  Definitely will have to try it next time.

Sunday started with a little kiddo art project.  They were painting letters to go on their bedroom doors, they were so cute in their technique and application and had me cracking up the whole time.

Followed by another Orangetheory (the soreness is real now). Still wasn’t able to use my heart rate monitor, but I think the problem has been identified, so hopefully next time it I will be back on the board.

After class we decided it was too pretty outside to not be out and about and headed to the farmer’s market, which is always a favorite Sunday activity. The weather was lovely and that cupcake my dude picked out was amazing. Like that frosting is what dreams are made out of.  Also, I was amazed with all the rose bushes around the farmer’s market, they were beautiful!  I have tried to grow roses before and mine never got big or had more than a couple roses at a time.  Gardener friends, whats the secret?

Later in the day, the kiddos and I headed to my book club, which they always enjoy, as they get to play with the other kids and sneak more cookies than I would give them.  It was a great spread of goodies, mostly desserts, as well as the typical good conversation. We read The Power, which I don’t feel I can quite review yet, because I still have about a quarter of the book to read. The premise of the book is that women develop a new power, which is essentially a built in electrical force that can be used as a weapon.  The story then follows how the world changes with the development of this new power in women.   It was definitely a thought provoking book and I enjoyed hearing everyone’s perspectives on it.

Next month I am hosting, so I brought a few book options for the group to pick from. Thank you all for the recommendations, you guys are the best! The group ended up deciding on My Abandonment, which is based on a true story of a young girl and her father living in the Oregon wilderness. Let’s hope it’s a good one, I always get a little nervous when it’s my turn to bring some choices.

What did you do this weekend? Does it throw you off when you can’t measure your workout like you normally do? It always throws me off more than I care to admit.

Hope you have a great day!

Weekend Highlights – We like to party all the time

Happy Monday friends, how are you today? I’m back after what was a bit of a whirlwind weekend with lots of activity each day.

Saturday morning started with the definite highlight of the whole family sleeping until 6:45 am!  Pretty late in our house.  I had originally planned to go to Orangetheory at 7am. But I woke up for a minute around 5:30 and decided that if the babies wanted to sleep in, I should too.  Fortunately, I was still able to squeeze in an at home barre workout before heading out to teach my class.

After class, we ran errands, both the boys got haircuts and we found ourselves at Costco for the second weekend in a row for a little stocking up and a food court lunch.  We then hustled home to all get ready for our evenings.  The hubs had to work and I had a bachelorette party to attend so the babies went to their grandparents for a little slumber party.

The bachelorette party was a blast! A friend of mine I used to go to school with is getting married on Cinco de Mayo, so some pre-wedding festivities were in order.

We started with a sushi dinner. I had a bowl of miso soup and a couple of crab puffs (the restaurant put jalapeño in them, which was a twist this spicy food lover liked), followed by a Tootsie roll and a spicy crab roll. Both were good, but I especially loved the Tootsie roll, which is a longtime favorite of mine.

After dinner we finished getting ready before heading out for a night of drinks and dancing. As I am usually at work or chasing kiddos around, I so rarely get dolled up, it definitely felt good! One of the bridesmaids made these cute goodie bags with beads, a little bottle of bubbly, water and snacks, which I thought was so sweet.  Those little bottles were also perfect for toasting our bride to be.

Sunday morning the hubs and I were up around 7:00 and did some blitz cleaning before the kids got home at 8:30. Then we were off to Target and to a birthday party for two of my little guy’s school friends.

The party was an under the sea theme and had tons of decorations and themed games. I loved all the decorations they made.  The shower cap jelly fish were my favorite, so clever!

They also had a bracelet station where you could make your own foam bracelets. I was wearing one of the kid’s bracelets most of the morning, and when I took it off I was greeted with this pink surprise. We will see how long it takes to wash off completely, it was still pretty pink Sunday evening.

In the afternoon, we had some friends over to play and have dinner. We did a fairly usual summer snack spread of veggies, chips and dip, deviled eggs and black olives, plus a bowl of fruit they brought over. For the main course we went with turkey sliders, a traditional version, as well as a green Chile, bacon guacamole burger. Slider form maybe my new favorite summer burger form. Typically I am a little filled up on snacks and don’t need much by the time dinner is ready, so a little slider was just right.

After saying good night to our friends and tucking some babies into bed, we got ready for the week and relaxed with a little Joel McHale on the couch. I loved Talk Soup when it was on and am happy to see him on Netflix now.

What did you do this past weekend? What’s on your agenda this week?

Hope you have a great day!

Weekend Highlights – Play Dates and R & R – 4/9/18

R & R meaning really busy with a sprinkling of really good relaxation:)

Hey friends, how was your weekend? I can’t believe it is already over, I feel like the weekend just flew by. Probably because it was a pretty busy one, anytime we have a weekend where we are going from event to event it seems to go by really fast.

(This post may contain affiliate links, please see my disclosure here.  Thank you for your support!)

Our Saturday started especially early because the little miss decided that we needed to get up about 4:15.  Her brother shortly followed. Since we were up, I decided a good breakfast was probably in order. We made banana pancakes from the Thug Kitchen cookbook, with a little added in flax-seed. They didn’t come out quite as fluffy as I hoped but were still pretty delicious. I made a double batch, which ended up being a ton, so we now have plenty stocked in the freezer for quick weekday breakfasts.

I also did an online barre workout.  Both of my little guys were very interested in it, they would come do some moves and then ask me to “crawl” so they can ride on my back.  So this 27-minute video took close to an hour, but I’m considering the baby moves bonus strength, lol.  Plus, it was super cute to see them try to mimic some of the moves.

The kids had a birthday party at the same time as my Saturday am class, so the hubs took them while I taught. This left me with an hour or so free before they would be getting home, so I decided to take full advantage and get a facial. We have a skin care school pretty close to us, which I have always had good experiences at. It is totally the spa experience, with awesome organic products, but much less costly than a spa because the services are provided by students.  I got a green tea facial, which smelled amazing and left my skin soft and glowing.

Later in the day, we had a playdate at the park, before heading to an event at the kids’ school. They had a Spring Gala, which was a nice adult dinner and silent auction (the kids had pizza and played in the room next door with some teachers from their school). Followed by an ice cream social with the kids. It was a lot of fun hanging out with some of the other families and hopefully proved to be a successful fundraiser for the school. I got outbid on my silent auction choices, but it was still lots of fun to browse.

Sunday morning started with bagels and some standard errand running to Home Depot and Target.  We are finally starting to organize and decorate at the new place.  It feels SO good to be getting settled in.

Midday, I had one of my book clubs, which was conveniently reading the same book (The Silent Sister: A Novel) as my other book club this month, so I was totally prepared! We went to AZ Wine Collective, which a friend and I had scoped out a week or so ago. It was a delightful little midday treat. They had a “Breakfast time” wine, which was basically a really good mimosa in a can. Paired with a manchego cheese, fig jam and almond crepe from the food truck outside, it was lunch time perfection.

Later in the day, we headed to an indoor bounce house place for my niece’s birthday. We had a bit of a mishap getting there, turns out there are two bounce house places in town, but once we got to the right place it was all good. The kids all had a blast and I always love watching them all play together (I also love climbing through the obstacles with them, #kidatheart).  This place had a “glow party” theme going, which reminded me of going cosmic bowling back in the day.

What did you do this past weekend?  Any big plans for the week?  I am excited to get some Orangetheory’s in.  I normally do one over the weekend and one during the week, but I had used up all my classes for the month early last week (my month resets on the 8th), so I did not go this weekend and I missed it.  I am also hoping to get a yoga class in this week.  I do some yoga at home, but I could really use the full stretch of an hour-long class.

Hope you have a great day!

Highlights from the weekend – Friend dates and festivities

Hey guys! How was your weekend? Any fun holiday festivities? We had a pretty good one over here until the end.  I caught a bug and was pretty down for the count yesterday

I took a couple of days off at the end of last week, so I got to enjoy an extra long weekend.  Which was nice, because I was able to get lots done and have some fun early on.  I wrote my last post late Thursday afternoon and had some adventures that followed that evening.  So I thought I would start from there and share a few highlights instead of a full recap.

Thursday evening I had a friend date at the AZ Wine Collective. It was my first time checking it out, and I loved it. It is a cute little wine bar, featuring all AZ wine.  They also have local craft beers and a local Kombucha on tap! It was such a cute little place, and you could order takeaway from some restaurants in the plaza, which was cool. After doing a tasting, we wandered across the plaza where an 80s band was performing, it was a really fun evening.

(Sorry for how blurry that bottom picture is).

Friday, the kids and I had a fun day of egg painting, playing and cake baking. We were baking a cake to have for dessert that night, as we had some friends coming over for dinner. They were so excited to make a cake for their friends. As you can see, their cake decorating skills are on point and they are big sprinkle enthusiasts.

Dinner was great!   With the move and everything, it has been a while since we did any entertaining. We had such a good time catching up with some friends and meeting their new baby! On the menu where shrimp and steak tacos with all the sides, chips, guacamole and margaritas. It was a great evening.

Saturday we enjoyed a friend Easter egg hunt and lunch at the park. The kids had a great time playing and looking for eggs with their friends. I was amazed by how quickly a group of kids can find a bunch of eggs. I felt like we hid a ton, but they found them all so fast. Picnicking in the park is also always nice.

Later in the afternoon, we also went and checked out the snakes at a local pet store. They give me the heeby-jeebys something fierce but the kids think they are so cool.

We then headed to my nephew’s birthday party! Unfortunately, a day of outdoor festivities paired with a refusal to take naps meant the kids could not hang, so we only made it about an hour into the party before we had to call it a day, still nice to see folks though.

I started coming down with some sort of stomach bug Saturday evening and sadly was not up to much celebrating on Easter. But I was able to enjoy watching my little loves open their Easter baskets and find all the goodies the Easter bunny left them.

The fam then went to my parents for Easter brunch, while I stayed cocooned on the couch. Not exactly the Easter I had planned, but at least there was lots of fun before the cooties hit.

So friends, how was your weekend? What did you do? Any big plans for the week! Remember there is still time to win the Prince of Piece candy giveaway, make sure to comment on that post today!  I will be announcing a winner on Wednesday.
